The email scam, which claims to be from Bank of America, contains a link to a seemingly legitimate website with the domain address "update-citi .com".
A Citibank spokesperson said in an email to .com: "We encourage our customers to be alert to all types of fraudulent activity, including suspicious websites and emails, and provide them with detailed information on how to recognize and protect themselves and report to offer such fraud."
The scam uses the domain's TLS certificate, so a padlock appears next to the address, tricking users into thinking it's a secure site.

"It is believed, but not confirmed, that during this time the phishing page is trying to enter Citibank using the victim's personal information. This is done in a context similar to this Steam phishing scam,” BleepingComputer said.
